Narrowing search results by Availability, Format, Subject, and Date

After conducting a Basic or Advanced Search, you will most likely want to narrow your search results using the filters found in the “Tweak my results” section of the Brief Results window.

Narrowing by Availability

1. In the “Tweak my results” section, locate the Availability filter.
2. Select the Availability filter.
3. Review the results to locate which filters you wish to apply in order to narrow the search results.
   1. The filter/limiters displayed will vary between search queries based on the items captured in the results.
   2. To select more than one, move your cursor to the desired filter/limiter and select the box icon to the left of the filter/limiter.
   3. If desired, instead of showing a specific filter/limiter, you can move your cursor to the right of the filter/limiter and select the small orange box with a crossed-out checkbox. This will exclude this filter/limiter from the search results, instead of displaying items associated with it.
4. Review the filtered search results. If needed you can clear the previously applied filters and start over, or you can apply additional filters to further narrow the results.

Example Narrowing by Availability

Step 1

4. Review the filtered search results. If needed, you can clear the previously applied filters and start over, or you can apply additional filters to further narrow the results.
